Our Adventure Begins!

Two weeks ago my son was diagnosed with FPIES.  If you asked me a couple of months of go what is FPIES, I would have been clueless. I now know that FPIES stands for food protein induced enterocolitis syndrome. I am slowly learning more and more about this condition and how to deal with it. How did I first suspect my sweet little boy might have this? Well after two severe allergic reactions to rice cereal, and no help from doctors I began to search on the Internet and stumbled across FPIES. I immediately knew this had to be the answer. He matched the symptoms perfectly. After a third reaction to a rice snack, I decided it was time to bring this up to my doctor. So here we are a few months later and I we have finally received an official FPIES diagnosis. With that comes some relief in finally having some answers, but also some fear as we begin this adventure dealing with such a challenging food allergy. My purpose for this blog is to hopefully help anyone who might be dealing with the same thing. There is very little information on the Internet about FPIES but the information I have found has been a lifesaver to us! So this begins my diary of our ups and downs as we begin this new adventure called FPIES!
